A playful, repetitive rhyming text decribes the difficulties four children and one adult have when they take their two dogs along on a walk down to the beach. What might otherwise have been a peaceful venture turns boisterous when the dogs chase a cat and then a flock of geese (who chases them back!). It's all in good fun, however, as Mahy's delightful verses point out the humor in the situation. Selina Young's bright pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations capture the spirit of the fun.
