Book Description
for Music for Tigers by Michelle Kadarusman
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
Louisa longs to be a musician, not a biologist, like her nature-obsessed family. When she is sent to Tasmania to stay with her uncle Ruff in a remote rainforest camp, he gives her a journal belonging to her great-grandmother, who rescued Tasmanian tigers. Even though Tasmanian tigers were thought to be extinct for centuries, Louisa's family is convinced they are secretly around the island. With the help of her new friend and neighbor Colin—a boy who has autism spectrum disorder—Louisa deepens her connection to her family's land, to preserving natural habitats. and to her love of music.
