Shazia is a Kalasha girl who lives in the Rumbur valley in the North West Frontier province of Pakistan. Shazia longs for a snow leopard. But when she finds a cub which she names Yardil, which means 'friend of my heart', she learns that there is something more important than her own dream, and everyone in her stair-step mountain village discovers the special gift of the snow leopard.
