Book Descriptions
for Pickle on Wheels by Sylvie Kantorovitz
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
Pickle, the lovable green dog previously seen in Pickle Gets a Car, is looking for new wheels. Inspired by TV hero Superdog, a superhero on skates, Pickle’s grandma gifts him roller skates. Pickle quickly discovers that skating is a lot harder than it looks. Bird offers encouragement and safety reminders while Coco offers to hold hands and practice together. Pickle returns the favor by encouraging his unsteady friend Felix in the same way. The biggest surprise is who shows up at the skate park with all the skills and tricks. Hint: It’s not Superdog. Comic panel illustrations and crisp text bubbles make Pickle’s escapades smooth rolling and reading.
